Holly Farm Park Shooting Suspect Arrested Wednesday, Police say

Aaron Mathew Garcia was arrested for allegedly discharging a firearm near the park and Capitol Hill Library. No injuries were reported.

PORTLAND, OR – Portland police arrested a man on Wednesday who allegedly fired several shots in the Crestwood neighborhood of Southwest Portland, officials said.

Around 6:30 p.m. April 26, police arrested Aaron Mathew Garcia, 26, at Holly Farm Skate Park near Southwest Capitol Highway and Southwest Dickinson Street. Garcia has been lodged at the Multnomah County Jail, charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, two counts of discharging a firearm in the city, second degree criminal mischief, and second degree disorderly conduct.

According to police, Garcia was allegedly pointing a gun at passing cars and firing rounds near the Multnomah County Library – Capitol Hill before running to Holly Farm Park. Police reportedly found Garcia still in possession of the gun and took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported, though police said after Garcia's arrest they learned of two other shootings nearby that damaged a port-a-potty.
