That Horrible Crash Thursday Morning on Highway 30? A Mother and Daughter Were KIlled

The mom and daughter who were killed were in a car that lost control navigating a curve.

A mother and daughter were killed when the car they were in crossed the center line on Highway 30 and crashed with a Dodge pickup coming in the other direction.

Oregon State Police said it happened around 8:15 Thursday morning on Highway 20 near milepost 94 just east of Astoria.

A 2009 Suzuki sedan was headed easy when it lost control negotiating a curve. The Suzuki - driven by 38-year-old Sabrina Rainey of Astoria - crossed the centerline and was struck on the passenger side by westbound 1999 Dodge pickup.

Rainey was killed in the crash as was her daughter, a 14-year-old.

The driver of the pickup, 31-year-old Jordan Waliezer of Kelso, received minor injuries and was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Highway 30 was closed completely for about 30 minutes.
