Hunt Is On For Escaped Inmate

Jason Lewis Ray had been on a work crew at the Pittock Mansion. He was last seen at Legacy Good Samaritan.

He was there and then he wasn't. The hunt is on for an inmate who walked away from work crew near Pittock Mansion on Friday morning.

Jason Lewis Ray, 37, was last seen on the 2900 block of Northwest Cumberland Road, near the mansion. He was part of a work crew managed by the Oregon Department of Correction.

They asked the Portland Police for helping find Ray.

Officials say he got an unwitting motorist to give him a ride to Legacy Good Samaritan where he told hospital staff that he had injured his arm and his name was "Aaron Ray."

He's described as 5'8" tall, 200 pounds, shaved head, blue eyes, goatee, lots of tattoos, last seen wearing blue jeans with "INMATE" printed in orange and a blue or black t-shirt.

Police say that he had on heavy socks and no shoes.

People are asked to call 9-1-1 if they spot him.

He's been in prison theft and weapons charges. He previously served him for assault.

Ray also has convictions in Arizona and California.
