Istanbul Attacks: PDX Security Increased

While there are no direct flights from Portland to Istanbul and there are no known threats to Portland international Airport, officials are not taking any chances.

"We are increasing our Port of Portland POlice presence," said Port Spokesman Steve Johnson, who added they now "have a heightened level of security watchfulness."

Johnson said that passengers can expect normal procedures and no added delays.

"Safety and security is our highest priority and we have many layers of security at the airport including: Port of Portland POlice, TSA< private security, cameras gods, and the eyes and ears of hundreds of PDX employees at any given time," said Johnson.

Johnson added that passengers should always remember - if they see something, say something.
