Jesuit Goalkeeper Selected as High School All-American

Emma Hinson was picked as one of the 42 best girl's soccer players in the country.

There's little question that Emma Hinson - star goalkeeper for the girls soccer team at Jesuit High School is good. In fact, she's one of the 42 best girls high school players in the country.

Hinson, a senior for the Crusaders, was selected this week to be the goalkeeper for the West squad in the High School Soccer All-American Game.

And if that wasn't enough, hours after getting the selection, Hinson led her team to a 6-0 shutout of Lake Oswego as they advanced to next Saturday's quarterfinal game against Central Catholic.

"Playing at Jesuit these last 4 years has been such a privilege, and I have enjoyed so much about it," Hinson says. "I would not be where I am without the daily support and encouragement from my team, all of whom have quickly become my best friends.

"Coach Fennah has also been extremely helpful and encouraging, constantly pushing me to be the best I can be. I am so, so, so excited and honored to be playing in the All American game. I am so blessed with all of the opportunities soccer has given me."

As Hinson helped guide the Crusaders to a 12-1 season, they are trying to follow-up on last year's wins in both the Metro League and the State Championship.

"Emma has been both a fine goalkeeper on the field and a great representative of our program at all times," says Steve Fennah, Jesuit's head women's soccer coach. "On the field she has the ability to make the game winning saves that set her apart from other good goalkeepers; in doing so, she inspires confidence in the rest of her team mates."

Hinson will play next year for Saint Louis University.
