Judge in #OregonStandoff Case Backs Off Gag Order

Shawna Cox will be able to discuss her case publicly.

Shawna Cox, one of 27 people charged in connection with the armed takeover of the Maleheur National Wildlife Refuge, won't have to hold her tongue quite so much.

A judge last month ordered not to make "any public comment" about her case, warning jail could be in her future if she violated the order.

On Tuesday, the judge refined his order, saying she could discuss her case but "shall refrain from engaging in conduct or speech that will incite others to trespass upon or destroy federal government property or incite unlawful violence rather than the previously ordered condition that defendant shall not make or publish any public statements, by any means, that encourage unlawful activity or reference her case or co-defendants."
