Las Vegas Fire Chief Makes Changes After Sex Scandal
Surveillance cameras, shortened visiting hours, more training, are among the changes, Chief William McDonald announced.
The Las Vegas Fire Department announced sweeping changes after a captain was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old prostitute at his station. There will be surveillance cameras, visiting hours will be cut, what visits there are will be supervised, and there will be more training.
"Misconduct of any kind is not tolerated," Chief William McDonald said at a news conference on Thursday.
The changes follow the arrest of a fire captain, Richard Loughry, who faces eight felony counts. After his arrest, admitted to officers that the 15-year-old - who had told him she was older - was not the only woman he had brought to the station.

His actions are "in no way representative of our folks," McDonald said. "It is not representative of who we are and what we do."

Firefighters Union President Eric Littman echoed that sentiment.
"We're still shocked," he said. "We're surprised at what's transpired."
Littman said he does not believe Loughry's actions are representative of people in the department.
McDonald said the department's internal investigation is continuing and one of the things they are looking at is did other firefighters know what was going on and, if so, why did they not report it.
