Last Container Carrier Ending Calls at Port of Portland Terminal Six
Westwood Shipping had been making one call per month.

The last remaining container carrier doing business at the Port of Portland's Terminal Six will make their last stop this Saturday.
Westwood Shipping, based in Puyallup, notified the port that the "economics of a single call per month do not justify continued Portland service," port officials said in a statement.
"While we are disappointed with this news, we also understand the underlying economics of the carrier industry are at play life over-capacity and exceptionally low rates," the said.

"We are hopeful that Westwood will return to T-6 when market dynamics improve."
Westwood, which has made calls at Terminal Six since July 2010, had actually suspended making calls there last April, soon after Hanjin and Haag-Lloyd pulled out.

They resumed doing business there in July.
The port says that each call at Terminal Six by Westwood took about 150 containers of hay, grass seed, dried fruits, other mixed agricultural goods and paperboard for export to Japan.
Bulk, breakbulk and auto operations at terminals 2, 4, 5 and 6 are not impacted.
