Man Arrested in Murder of Woman He Was Living With

Couple had just moved to Portland's North Tabor neighborhood from Cuba.

On Friday, Portland Police responded to the report of an assault at a home on 66th and Glisan in Northeast Portland.

There they found a woman who had been murdered and a man who had been injured.

On Saturday they arrested the man and charged him with the murder of the woman.

Police say he is 50-year-old Jorge Luis Sosa-Soier.

She was 31-year-old Yaritza Valdez-Almaguer.

They had recently moved here from Cuba.

She was killed by a single stab wound.

He then cut himself with the knife, which required hospitalization and surgery before he was released to detectives.

He is expected to be in court Monday for his first appearance on the charges.
