Man Charged with Setting Fires at 7-Eleven with People Inside

A man who started a series of fires inside a 7-Eleven as customers were inside will appear in court on Monday. Kevin Mitchell is charged with arson and criminal mischief.

Portland Fire & Rescue says that Mitchell was in the 7-Eleven at 6840 North Fessenden on Sunday when he set fire to several items inside the store.

There were no injuries - and the gas station part of the store was not damaged - but most items inside the store were destroyed.

The fire bureau's arson squad and Portland Police are investigating.
