Man Taken Into Custody After Police Say He Fired at Them

He was brought to the hospital for examination for what appeared to be a dog bite, police say.

Portland Police arrested a man they say fired several shots at them during a standoff.

Sixty-three-year-old Timothy James Bucher is charged with three counts of attempted aggravated murder, menacing, reckless endangerment, unlawful use of a firearm, and other charges.

He will appear in court on Thursday.

The incident happened Tuesday night by the Fox Run Mobile Home Park near the 9000 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. for a reporter of a man and woman fighting;.

As they approached the home, the man came out and pointed a gun at them.

They called for backup and were soon joined by the bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team.

The man's mother was in the home with him though he eventually let her out.

Police say that a couple of times the man fired at them. No officers were injured though the man's shots did hit a couple of houses.

They fired gas canisters and, at least once, returned fire.

Eventually the man yelled out that he wanted to surrender.

Which he did.
