Masked Man Tries Robbing Teen by Park Say Cops

A masked man tried to rob a teen by Sellwood Riverfront Park Tuesday morning.

Portland Police say it happened just after 10 a.m. by Southeast Oaks Way at Spokane Street.

Officers arrived to find an 18-year-old woman who told them she had been walking her dog on the trail in the wooded area long the river awards Oaks Amusement Park when a man jumped out the bushes and demanded her property.

She didn't have anything on her and ran - first to the park and then to a nearby friend's house.

That's where she called 911.

The victim described the suspect as a white male in his 20s, 6'00" tall, skinny build, possible goatee or beard, light brown hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black cargo pants, a black mask, and black shoes.
