MCSO Search and Rescue Assist Fallen Hiker
Woman, 57, slips on ice and falls down 40-foot embankment; no serious injuries.

(Updated) PORTLAND, OR — A 57-year-old woman slipped on ice and snow and fell down a 40-foot embankment while hiking at Wahkeena Falls. Search-and-rescue crews have successfully rescued her, according to police reports. The original report was that a female fell approximately 40 feet from an icy trail with unknown injuries and was hanging on to a tree. Crews hiked in about 1 mile and found her. Crews were able to lower the patient back onto the trail. Patient was transported to legacy Emanuel by AMR's Reach and Treat team with non-life threatening injuries
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said search and rescue crews were able to get to her and they walked her out of the area. The woman, visiting from Texas, didn’t sustain any major injuries.
