Find out what's going on around town with your daily Portland Patch!.

Hey, Portland, we're back with our Wednesday edition of the Portland Patch! It's half way through the week and I hope you're all doing awesome. Let me tell you what's going on today.
First, today's weather:
We might actually see the sun a little in the morning, but most of the day will still be gray and rainy, with a high of 56. And that's just the way I like it.

Here are the top stories today in Portland:
- One normally thinks of oil spills as something that happens at the coast or in an ocean, but it turns out we have one in our own back yard. There's currently a cleanup effort going on after an oil spill dumped 350 gallons of oil into Kellogg Creek and Kellogg Lake in Milwaukie. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) are working to contain the spill and rescue any impacted wildlife. (KGW)
- That's not how you park! One car drove off an upper parking lot and landed onto a car in the lower parking lot near NE 160th and Halsey. Luckily, there has been no report of injuries. (KATU)
- Portland police continue their crack down on illegal street racers. Teaming up with the Oregon State Police, they've made 8 arrests and towed 7 cars over the weekend. Racers who break the ordinance — including people who merely facilitate the events — risk up to a month in jail, a $500 fine and their car being towed. Mayor Ted Wheeler reminded the public that this charge would be in addition to any applicable criminal charges. (KOIN)
- There's been so much campaign news lately, even though the election is over a year away. This time the news comes from Portland commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty as she announces that her re-election campaign has 300 early fundraising donors, "exceeding early fundraising goals." As the first Black woman elected to Portland City Council, Hardesty has served since 2019. (KPTV)
- With the holiday season fast approaching, and the holiday traveling that may come with it, you might be visiting PDX in the near future. But if it's been a while since you've been to the airport, it may look very different to you. Travelers will notice extensive construction both in and around the airport. The facility is in the early stages of a $2 billion renovation project. (KATU)

But many we miss terribly. Register online to attend this timely webinar. The conversation starts at 5:00 PM.
- Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience will be performing at the Alberta Rose Theater in NE Portland. Tickets available online. Doors open at 7:00 PM.
- For an evening of bluegrass and Americana, head to the Goodfoot in SE Portland to see Fog Hollar and Five Letter Word. Fog Holler is a fast-growing sensation in the world of bluegrass and acoustic music, born from an intense love of early country and traditional American music. Doors open at 8:00 PM.
- Relax with a glass of wine at SE Portland wine bar Corkscrew and enjoy the jazz trumpet stylings of Paul Mazzio. At the International Cheese & Dairy Awards last week, it followed it up with two gold medals.(Patch)
- I told you I was going to keep bringing the Halloween spirit to Portland, and I'm getting some help from today from Eater PDX. They've compiled a list of places in Portland to find spooky and fun Halloween treats. From special ice scream flavors from Salt & Straw to a dog costume contest at Reel M Inn, there's tons of fun to be had. Check them out. (Eater PDX)
- While I do love Portland, I've always been annoyed at Oregon's closed primaries. That system means that an Oregon voter can only vote for candidates of the party one is registered with. Not only does this restrict who Republicans and Democrats can vote for, but anyone registered with a third party misses out completely. If you are annoyed by this system as well, the Oregonian has published an article talking about what one might do about it. (Oregonian)
