Tens of Thousands Without Power in Metro Area
More customers could lose power into Thursday as power lines break.
PORTLAND, OR — Record-setting snowfall is wreaking havoc on the power grid in Portland, according to Portland General Electric, Pacific Power and Clark Public Utilities, leaving tens of thousands of people without power across seven counties.
As of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, more than 30,000 people were without power as of 10:30 a.m. OregonLive.com reports that the number without power as of Wednesday night had been cut to 19,000, but there were no estimates on a timeline for restoring power across the region due to the weather conditions and the number of power-line breaks.
