Morrison Bridge Closed Sunday
Ongoing maintenance needed; problems date back to work done five years ago.

No cars will be allowed on the Morrison Bridge Sunday from 7AM to 7PM so inspection and maintenance work can be done.
Multnomah County, which operates the bridge, since this is part of the ongoing work related to the problems with deck panels that were installed five years ago.
The County is involved in litigation over the work and plans to replace the span deck this summer.

According to the County:
Ramps between the bridge and Interstate 5 and Interstate 84 will be closed on Sunday, except for the ramp from the Morrison Bridge westbound to I-5 north. While the I-5 southbound City Center/Morrison Bridge off-ramp (exit 300) will be closed, the I-5 southbound ramp to Highway 99E/U.S. 26 will remain open. Motorists can access I-84 eastbound at NE Grand Avenue and NE Everett Street.

To access downtown Portland from the freeways during the closure, I-5 southbound drivers can exit at the Rose Quarter/Broadway Bridge and I-84 westbound drivers can exit at Rose Quarter/Weidler exits.
Bicyclists and pedestrians will still be allowed to use the bridge though there may be delays while the drawbridge is open.
The Morrison Bridge, which opened in 1958, is travelled by 50,000 vehicles every day.
It is also the largest mechanical device in Oregon.
