A quick thinking worker from the Oregon Department of Transportation saved a mother and child from a burning car early Thursday morning.
It happened around 3:30 about halfway across hthe I5 Bridge headed into Portland.

A car had crashed in a work zone and into a truck, ending up in flames.
The car's driver fled the scene.

The worker ran to the car, broke the window, and helped the mother and child out of the car, and to safety.
They were brought to a local hospital for evaluation but were not seriously injured.
