Multnomah County RV Chase Ends in Arrest Near Sauvie Island, Officials say
Shawn Wheeler of Wisconsin was arrested Thursday morning after leading police on a short chase along Highway 30 and Cornelius Pass Road.

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR – An RV chase on Thursday ended with a Wisconsin man in the Multnomah County Detention Center, according to Sheriff's Office officials.
Shawn Wheeler, 38, of Markesan, Wis., was arrested shortly around 10 a.m. April 13, and charged with attempt to elude (an officer). Wheeler also had an outstanding fugitive warrant, police said.
Wheeler was allegedly driving erratically on Sauvie Island –– roughly 17 miles from Portland –– Thursday morning when deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tried to stop him. Refusing, Wheeler reportedly led one deputy on a chase along Northwest Cornelius Pass Road for about 3 miles before coming to a stop.

Wheeler then reversed the RV into two police vehicles and several other public cars that were in the roadway, police said. Wheeler hid in the RV, police said, refusing to comply with deputy orders to exit. After roughly 20 minutes, Wheeler reportedly gave up and came out to face his arrest.
One citizen sustained minor injuries when Wheeler's RV hit their car, but neither Wheeler nor any officers were hurt.
