The Murder of Ervaeua Herring: Three People Indicted

The 21-year-old was pregnant was shot in the head and killed.

Two people were in court Tuesday to plead not guilty to the charges of murder and burglary.

Demetrius Ray Brown and Geontae Brachurd Jones are charged with killing Ervaeua R. Herring in August 2014.

She was shot twice in the head in an apartment at 15139 SE Powell Boulevard.

She was pregnant and had a one-year-old son.

Her son was with a relative at the time she was killed.

A third person, DeAnthony Simmons, is also charged.

Simmons is in the custody of the Oregon Department of Corrections after having been convicted for attempted assault and robbery and was not in court on Tuesday.

Brown and Jones were already being held in the Multnomah County Jail on unrelated charges.

Police interviewed dozens of people in the 20 months since Herring's murder and expect more arrests.

They say that Herring was not in a gang but the case has a gang element.
