National History Bee Champion wins National Math Competition

Local student becomes double national champion

Ben Chiu, a student at Westview High School in Portland, Oregon, has won first place in the 2018 Math Kangaroo USA.

Math Kangaroo is the largest math competition in the world. Previously, Ben (Benji) Chiu won the U.S. National History Bee and came in second in the International History Bee.

With this award, Ben becomes one of the rare students in the U.S. who has won first place in a national STEM contest and in a national humanities/social science competition.
