Ockley Green Middle School Principal Placed On Leave
Move follows complaints from parents and staff.
When Ockley Green Middle School reopened last fall, it was a crowning moment for the community and Portland Public Schools. It was a step toward ending perceived inequalities in the district.
It was considered such a priority, that the school - which serves 600 students in North Portland - was opened earlier than originally planned.

"We understand that this change in leadership is unexpected," Assistant Superintendent Antonio Lopez wrote in a message to school families. "We will keep you informed and appreciate your patience."
Canler will be on move until further notice.
The move comes after complaints from parents and staff about Canler ranging from his discipline style to classroom logistics such as teachers having to share rooms to a lack of supplies.
Kari Logan - who has been the senior director overseeing Jefferson and Grant High School area schools after spending six years as principal of Lane Middle School - will serve as interim principal at Ockley Green.
