Oregon Head Start Association Awards Safety and Health Grants

Congratulations to the 2016 Charitable Checkoff Grant recipients! Thanks to Oregon tax payers we awarded over $30,000 in grants.

The 2016 Charitable Checkoff Grant Application period is over. These grant funds are provided through Oregon taxpayers selecting Oregon Head Start (write-in code 2) as a recipient of all or part of their tax refund on their state tax form. This unique program provides funding for essential safety and facility improvements, which are not typically funded by Head Start.

The recipients of this year’s grant funds:

  • Eastern Oregon Head Start was awarded $3,527.48 to replace aged tables and chairs.
  • Head Start of Lane County was awarded $3,552.77 for lead testing, filtration systems, and water dispensers.
  • Kidco Head Start was awarded $11,124 for an age appropriate outdoor play area at a site co-located with a public school.
  • Klamath Family Head Start was awarded $5,000 for the development of an outdoor play area at a newly constructed location.
  • Neighborhood House was awarded $6,930 to upgrade kitchen equipment.
