Oregon Historical Society Offers Free Admission To JFK Exhibit Memorial Day Weekend
The exhibit features artifacts from a handful of U.S. museums and historical societies, including a faux-lease to the White House.

PORTLAND, OR — In honor of what would have been President John F. Kennedy's 100th birthday and to celebrate the Oregon Historical Society's JFK exhibit, High Hopes: The Journey of John F. Kennedy, visitors will be given free admission to the Oregon Historical Society's museum throughout Memorial Day Weekend.
Beginning Saturday, May 27, and continuing through Memorial Day, May 29 (JFK's birthday), museum visitors will be allowed to view free of charge the largest centennial exhibit honoring JFK outside of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, Mass.
Featuring more than 100 rare artifacts and manuscripts from the Mark Family Collection, the Shapell Manuscript Foundation, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, and the Oregon Historical Society's own collection, the exhibition explores the former president's early life, his journey to the White House, and the impact he had on the country during his short time in office, according to OHS officials.

"As we approach the centennial of John F. Kennedy's birth, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to open our doors for free this weekend in order to share Kennedy's compelling story with all Oregonians," said OHS Executive Director Kerry Tymchuk in a statement.
The exhibit will be on display until Nov. 12. The Oregon Historical Society's museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Typical admission is $11, with discounts available for students, seniors, and youth. A renewed Oregon Historical Society Levy allows for free admission to OHS members and Multnomah County residents.
