Pokémon Go Crimefighting Continues: Brothers Find Loaded Gun
Officers say it appears the gun had been in the open for a while.

Emanuel Schmaltz and his brother were out in a field off of Highway 99 in Hazel Dell looking for Gloom.
It's not that they were looking for something depressing.
Gloom is a character in Pokémon Go — the new game app that's been getting a lot of attention.

"We were out in a field, having gone through a hole in a fence, looking for him," Schmaltz tells Patch. "And I turned around and there it was."
It was not Gloom. It was a loaded Smith and Wesson Model 16-4 .32 Magnum.

"I just stopped in my tracks," says Schmaltz. "I thought, well that shouldn't be there. Definitely not."
So, while his brother continued the hunt for Gloom (he was successful), Schmaltz called 9-1-1.
"I wanted to make sure that no one else found it," he said.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office tells Patch that the gun had probably been discarded some time ago — it had rust and other signs of weathering.
The serial number didn't show up in any law enforcement database of lost or stolen guns.
A sheriff's deputy says it was very lucky the gun was found by someone who knew to report it.
"It might've led to a tragic incident if it weren't for the Pokémon searchers," said Deputy Brian Wade.
