Police Arrest Man Firing Gun Near Downtown Portland
Eric Sokol allegedly fired a handgun near an apartment complex early Thursday morning south of downtown. No injuries were reported.

PORTLAND, OR — Gunfire in Southwest Portland early Thursday morning has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old, Portland police officials said.
Eric Sokol was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, discharging a firearm in the city, possession of a loaded firearm, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. He is being held on $14,000 bail.
According to police, Sokol allegedly fired a handgun outside an apartment complex near Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest Porter Street around 2:30 a.m. June 8.

When officers arrived in the area and established a perimeter to search for a suspect, Sokol was located in the vestibule of an apartment building on Southwest Porter Street, police said. Contacted by officers as he exited the vestibule, Sokol was taken into custody without incident, police said.
In Sokol's pocket, police reportedly found a handgun. Sokol's arraignment is scheduled for June 9.
