Portland 5 Things to Do This Weekend
Powfest! The Antique and Collectible Show! And... beautiful photos of Portland's past!

1. Pop collectibles, vintage clothing, glassware, silverware, antique radios from the 1930’s, turn-of-the-century furniture, movie memorabilia, collectibles, toys, sports memorabilia. What am I talking about? It's the Spring Antique and Collectible Show at the Portland Expo Center. Click here for more information and to buy tickets in advance.
2. The Johnson Creek Watershed Council could use your help. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. until noon, they will be having 10 restoration work parties to "weed, plant, and mulch for a healthier watershed!" And, if you show up and work, two "thank you pizza parties." Head over here to register and find out more.
3. If you're in the mood to experience some of Portland's history, maybe expose someone to Portland's past, head to the Architectural Heritage Center on Southeast Grand for an exhiit of the photographs of Minor White. Considered one of the most important photographers of the 20th Century, he spent four years here - from 1938-1942 - as part of the New Deal sponsored Oregon Art Project, his pictures of "grand-yet-dilapidated Portland buildings are both beautiful and haunting." 4. If you're planning on attending this next event, you may already know that I was going to tell you about. It's the annual Psychic Fair & Metaphysical Market. It's at the Monarch Hotel and Conference Center in Clackamas. There will be raffle drawings and a "Visionary Art Exhibit" as well as vendors selling divination tools, clothes, jewelry, and books, and more. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
5. It's The Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival's 10th anniversary. Better known as POWFEST, they are "the only film festival in Portland exclusively placing a spotlight on women directors with a goal to eliminate the gender disparity that exists for women working in the film industry." www.powfest.com for all the details.
