Portland 5 Things to Do This Weekend In and Around Town
Andy Warhol. The Marathon. Tattoo expo. Handmade bike expo. Another weekend in Oregon.
1. The Ultimate Guide to Marathons says that Portland Marathon is one of the top three marathons to do as a first marathon. But it's not just for people getting started, it is one of the premier marathons in the country - a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. And it's Sunday. Forget about the thousands and thousands of runners. There are 4,500 volunteers. Check out www.portlandmarathon.org for everything from the route to closures.
2. I think we're pretty much okay now with the role that tattoos seem to play in the life of Portland. But, if you're curious, you might want to head to the Portland Expo Center this weekend for the Portland Tattoo Exoo this weekend. A day pass is $20. A weekend pass - all three days - is $40. Artists. Exhibits. Seminars. Music. More. www.portlandtattooexpo.com for all the details.
3. Whomever came up with the idea of having a festival that mixes handmade bicycles and handmade beer was clearly trying to get to the heart of Oregonians. So, check out the Handmade Bike & Beer Festival at the North Warehouse in North Portland Friday and Saturday. Sponsored by the Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association, there will be beer, bicycles, beer, bicycles, beer... you get the picture. www.oregonframebuilders.com for all that you need to know.

4. It's hard to fully explain Andy Warhol to those who don't know - even to those who do. He was, without question, one of the giants of art in the 20th Century. And starting Saturday, the Portland Art Museum will be exhibiting the largest collection of Warhol's prints ever assembled - thanks to Jordan Schnitzer and his family foundation. The exhibit runs until January. My advice is go early. And then again. And again. And again. www.portlandmuseum.org for more information.
5. Few things say the Pacific Northwest more than Bigfoot so head out to Carson, Washington - it's only about one hour from Portland - on Saturday for Bigfoot Bash at Logtoberfest where they will e celebrating all things Bigfoot including a talk from the host of Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot, Cliff Barackman. https://www.facebook.com/bigfo...for the details. The event - with nusic, food, talk, exhiibits, and, of course, beer, is at the Elk Ridge Golf Course.
