Portland Fire Rescues Two After 40-Foot Fall
Workers had fallen from scaffolding and were rescued by firefighters using a truck ladder.

Two construction workers at a site on the Ross Island Bridge fell around 50 feet from scaffolding and had to be rescued by Portland Fire & Rescue early Wednesday morning.
It happened around 8:15.
Portland Fire said the bureau's High Angle Rope Rescue Team used a ladder from an aerial platform truck to reach the workers and lower them to the ground. Both were then transported to OHSU with serious injuries.

The crew had been involved in cleaning and painting the bridge.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
