After a New York Times report charging the company used a program to deceive authorities, Portland wants answers.

After reading a report in The New York Times that Uber used a program to deceive authorities, Portland has launched an investigation wanting answers, Mayor Ted Wheeler and City Transportation Commissioner Dan Saltzman announced Monday.
The company had launched in Portland in 2014 without authorization from the city - only receiving permission to operate the following year.

The Times reported on Friday that the company used a program it called "Greyball" that allowed it to bypass people it believed were inspectors who would ticket its drivers.
Uber told the paper it had not used Greyball since receiving approval to operate.
