Portland Police Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Officers will be wearing pink caps, undershirts, socks... whatever it takes to get the message out.
The Portland Police Bureau is wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.
Pink caps. pink undershirts. Pink socks. Pink patches. They will also be carrying cards with information about breast cancer, early detection, treatment, and where to find out more.
It's part of a partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

"(We) are pleased to collaborate with the Portland Police Bureau and its officers to increase breast health education and the importance of early detection in the communities we serve," said Komen of Oregon and SW Washington Chief Executive officer, Andrew Asato. "Breast cancer affects every one of us, and we know that there are several police officers fighting the disease as we speak. We stand ready to be a resource and a partner."
The bureau has had several officers who have fought breast cancer and is sharing some of of their stories.
