Portland Police Kill Man Armed With Rifle
No officers were injured in the incident. They responded to reports of a shooting and domestic violence incident.

Portland Police shot and killed a man early Tuesday morning. The man, who was armed with a rifle when he was shot, had previously fired shots at officers.
Officers had responded to a home on Southeast 148th Avenue and East Burnside Street just before 11:00 Monday night. They had received a call that there was a disturbance and shooting at the home.
The man - who is in his 50s - was shot as he emerged from the home carrying a rifle. He had previously fired at officers with what they believe was a handgun.

The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were responding to the scene to assist East Precinct officers but were not yet in place when the suspect left the residence, armed with the rifle.
Homicide detectives, assisted by the East County Major Crimes Team, are in the early stages of an investigation into the shooting.

Traffic in the area of 148th Avenue and East Burnside Street is expected to be closed for several hours as detectives conduct their investigation. MAX is being let through, as needed.
