Portland Police Officer Charged with Driving while Intoxicated

Portland Police Officer Daniel Chastian is under arrest, charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Monday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 by SE 172nd Avenue and SE Big Timber Road in Clackamas.

Sheriff's deputies along with officers from the Happy Valley Police Department responded to find a black car that had rolled over.

Witnesses told officers that it had been speeding when it crashed with a red pickup.

Officers determined that Chastian was under the influence of alcohol.

Portland Police say that Chastian is a 17-year-veteran of the Bureau. He was off-duty but on-call and in a city-owned vehicle.

Chastian has been placed on an administrative leave.
