Portland Police Release Name Of Man Killed By Deputy On I-205

Portland Police say the man killed by a Clackamas County Sheriff's deputy after a chase on I-205 was known to possess guns and body armor.

PORTLAND, OR —Portland Police say that the man killed on I-205 earlier this week after leading Clackamas County Sherff's deputies on a chase was a domestic violence suspect who was known to carry a gun and wear body armor. They say that 32-year-old Wesley Chance was shot and killed by a deputy as he ran into traffic while carrying a gun.

Officials say that the incident started late Wednesday night when deputies were called to a home because Chance had shown up on the property of someone. As the deputies pulled up, they saw Chance drive away. They say that deputies tried to stop him, he sped away.

Chance then led them on a chase that went on to I-205. A deputy reported that as he followed, Chance pointed a gun out the window at him.
