Portland Police Respond to Two More Gang Shootings

Number of gang incidents approaching 50 for the year.

Portland Police responded to two more shootings Friday night - both believed to be linked to gang activity.

That would bring the total of gang incidents to nearly 50 so far this year.

The first incident was around 8:10 Friday night near the intersection of NE Martin Luther Kind Blvd and Jessup Street.

Nearly two dozen units responded after reports of people in two sedans - one black and one white or silver - were firing at each other.

There were no reports of any victims.

The second incident happened about three hours later at 11:20 p.m. around the 3500 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue.

Two people - a man and a woman - were found shot in the parking lot of a restaurant.

They were both transported to a hospital with what police said were non-life threatening injuries.

Both incidents are being handled by the Police Bureau's Gang Violence Response Team.
