Portland Police Say Man Arrested After Shooting Acquaintance In Head

Victim is in serious condition and expected to survive.

Portland Police say that a man is under arrest after allegedly shooting someone he knew in the head. The victim is in serious condition and expected to survive.

Officers responded around midnight on Monday to the 2500 block of North Williams Avenue to a report of a shooting.

They found a man in his 50s who had been shot in the head. he was able to tell officers who had shot him. He was brought to a local hospital.

The suspect - 63-year-old Dennis Ray Howie - was located driving away from the scene and stopped at Northeast Sacramento Street and Rodney Avenue. He was arrested without incident and charged with assault.
