Portland Police Say Man Gave a Licking, Climbed a Tree and Got Arrested
Just another afternoon in Southeast Portland.

Based on what Portland Police say, it might be fair to assume that 32-year-old Matthew Joseph Medlin has had better days. By the time they found him in the area of Southeast Ninth Avenue and Sandy Boulevard, he had allegedly damaged three cars, attacked a man and licked his face.
When Portland Police, who arrived in response of a call of a man assaulting a woman, found Medlin he allegedly responded by jumping on the police car, damaging it, climbing a tree, leaving the tree and then running into a restaurant.
Employees coaxed him out of the kitchen and police were finally able to get him into custody after struggling to get him to the ground. During that last maneuver, police say, he tried to bite on the officers.
