Portland Police Use Deadly Force Against I-5 Carjacking Suspect
Authorities say the suspect was involved in multiple carjackings on Monday, including one in which a victim was shot.

PORTLAND, OR —Portland Police said that its officers were involved in the use of deadly force against an armed carjacking suspect on Interstate 5 in the area of Rosa Parks Way on Monday morning
According to police reports, shortly before 10 a.m., officers responded to calls about an armed suspect involved in multiple carjackings.
The police said that while committing one of the carjackings, the suspect allegedly fired a shot that injured a victim. The victim was treated an an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to police.

The suspect was later killed in an officer-involved shooting, the department said.
"At some point, deadly force was deployed by police," the department said in a statement, though the bureau did not reveal the name of the person who was killed or the officers involved in the shooting.

Portland Police said there was no further danger to the public after the incident. Though I-5 remained shut down in both directions while authorities conducted an investigation.
