Portland Public Schools Approves $2.3 Million in Raises for Managers
Raises got to administrators and non-union staff.
The Portland Public School Board approved $2.3 million raises in for administrators Tuesday night. The aim is to bring Portland salaries more in line with other markets.
The vote will provide $600,000 for principals and assistant principals and $1.7 million for other administrative staff. Administrators such as principals and assistant principals as well as middle-wage employees will receive an average raise of 5.2 percent.
Money for most of the raises will come from nearly $2 million in expected savings on health care costs. The raises will be retroactive to July 1, when the district's fiscal year began.
