The district, which has been trying to figure out how to make up for the nine days canceled this year because of unusually heavy snow and ice storms, finally approved a proposal on Tuesday night.

Under the new plan, April 7 - which had been on the calendar as a teacher planning day - will now just be a regular school day, and June 15 will now be the last day of school.
The move comes after the board had voted in December to add two days, then voted to January to add another day and end early dismissals and late starts.

The district had been in danger of not meeting the state minimum for required instruction hours. Students in Oregon already are in the classroom less than most of their counterparts around the country.
Earlier this year, the board said they were consider all possibilities to make up for the missed days including classes on Saturdays and during Spring Break.
