Portland Schools Groundbreaking Brings Out Hundreds
One building. Two schools. Portland says this building is part of the city's future.
It's a partnership between the public schools and private college and Portland says it is crucial for the future of the city.
More than 400 students, educators, and elected officials were on hand for the groundbreaking of a new building that will be home to both a primary school and college of education.
The ceremonial ground breaking featured Faubion’s choir and Concordia’s Christi Crux Ensemble singing, the crowd gathered at the free, public event to share their anticipation and excitement.

The building is a joint project between Portland Public Schools, which will house its Faubion Primary School and Concordia University, which will house its College of Education.
“This is how we turn hope into opportunity,” said City of Portland Mayor Charlie Hales.

The primary school will have roughly 800 students and staff and the College of Education will have eight classrooms and 26 faculty offices.
