Southeast Portland Business Owner Kills Man In Confrontation
The victim, believed to be homeless, had stored personal belongings on the porch of the business.

A business owner in Southeast Portland shot and killed a man believed to be homeless during a dispute Monday afternoon. It happened on the 5800 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue - outside of Golden Key Insurance.
The victim - a 32-year-old man - had stored some of his personal belongings on the porch of the business. He returned to the business in the afternoon looking for his stuff. When he discovered his things were gone, he went inside and confronted the owner and his wife.
The man left without incident but when the owner went outside to make sure the man was gone, the man confronted him again. During the incident, the owner shot the man.

The business owner called 9-1-1 to report what had happened.

The victim was brought to a hospital where he died Monday evening.
The owner turned over the gun. Police are determining if he had been licensed to have it.
The case will be presented to a grand jury.
