After Killing Friend, Portland Woman Goes To Police
Paris McConville and Ryan Thompson had reportedly been friends for 10 years before McConville allegedly strangled Thompson to death Aug. 21.

PORTLAND, OR — Police on Wednesday identified the Portland man killed in the 700-block of Southwest Saint Claire Avenue Tuesday afternoon as 35-year-old Ryan Davis Thompson, formerly of Albany, Oregon.
On Aug. 22, police arrested former Pendleton resident Paris James McConville, 34, in connection with Thompson's death after McConville reportedly turned herself into police; she was later charged with Thompson's murder, police said.
According to court documents obtained by Patch, McConville shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday entered the Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct and announced that she had killed Thompson in self-defense.

Using a key provided by McConville, police entered her residence and found Thompson dead in a bathtub, where McConville had reportedly placed him after allegedly strangling him to death. Though they were friends who had reportedly known each other for 10 years, McConville told police they frequently argued; and on the evening of Aug. 21 the argument got physical and McConville stabbed and strangled Thompson.
Thompson had a stab wound on his arm and signs of blunt force trauma on the back of his head, court documents show. Neither McConville nor police offered an explanation for the head injury.

McConville reportedly told police she deserved to be punished for killing Thompson, which was why she turned herself in at the police station.
McConville is being detained at the Multnomah County Jail without bail. Her next court appearance is currently scheduled for Aug. 31 at 9:30 a.m.
