Rain Again Closes Athletic Fields at Portland Parks
Closure will remain in effect through at least Friday.

Rain, rain, go away is pretty much the cry of anyone who uses athletic fields in Portland parks. Portland Parks & Recreation announced Wednesday the fields will be closed through at least Friday, October 28th because of the continued effects of recent heavy rains.
Portland Parks says the conditions have left the fields with standing water, mud, slippery turf, and other poor conditions that may put athletes at risk.
Officials say that while it has not been raining as much as earlier this month, the cool weather and lack of sun have made it impossible for the fields to dry out.

This closure impacts the bureau's grass fields and events which PP&R had permitted at Portland Public Schools facilities. The closures do NOT impact synthetic turf fields, which are designed for all-weather play.
The city will again evaluate conditions on Friday.
