Reward Offered in 1974 Murder of Portland Teen

Clark County Sheriff's Office trying to renew interest in case

Detectives are looking for the former boyfriend of a 17-year-old woman who was found dead in 1974.

The man, whose name they do not know, was the boyfriend of Matha Marie Morrison whose body was found in the Dole Valey Area of Clark County.

All detectives know or sure is the man was slender, between 5'7" and 5'10' and may have been African-American.

Morrison's family thinks he was going to work as a welder in a Portland shipyard or dock and that they had met at a job-tracing program in Phoenix, Arizona before they moved to Portland.

"The man is not a suspect," said Special Deputy Dennis Hunter of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

They believe he can help them put together what happened in the last few hours of her life.

Information about unsolved homicides can lead to a reward of up to $2,500 cash. All other unsolved felony crimes are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000.
