The Salvation Army Wants You to Ring Their Bell

The charity needs bell ringers for their annual campaign.

The Salvation Army needs help. The charity, which is seemingly ever-present this time of year, needs volunteer bell ringers for their annual campaign.

"The Salvation Army raises over 50% of its funds for the entire year during this time of the year - and the kettles make up a large portion of that income," says Captain Robert Steiner, Divisional Secretary for The Salvation Army Cascade Division. "This is why it is so important that we have kettles and bell ringers fundraising at participating locations. We are fortunate to have great support from the community, whether it's working at a kettle and ringing bell or making a donation to a red kettle."

They says that kettles in the Portland metro area have so far brought in $171,094 this year, which is 23 percent of their $750,000 goal.
