Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Owners Asked to Keep Phones Off During Flights

The unusual warning from the FAA also asks people not to pack the phones in checked baggage.

You know that awfully nifty brand new Galaxy Note 7 from Samsung that you just got? The one that apparently catches fire? The Federal Aviation Administration would prefer you not turn it on if you are on an airplane.

In an unusual note issued late Thursday night, FAA officials asked airline passengers not to turn the phone on or even charge it.

The statement reads: "In light of recent incidents and concerns raised by Samsung about its Galaxy Note 7 devices, the Federal Aviation Administration strongly advises passengers not to turn on or charge these devices on board aircraft and not to stow them in any checked baggage."
