Schnitzer Steel's Tamara Lundgren At White House Roundtable

Lundgren was one of nine women at a White House roundtable with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Tamara Lundgren, the president and chief executive officer of Portland-based Schnitzer Steel Industries, was one of nine female executives at the White House on Monday for a roundtable with President Trump and Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau. There, the leaders announced the formation of the Canada-United States Council for Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders.

"Both President Trump and Prime Minister Trudeau are committed to removing barriers to women’s economic participation and supporting women as they advance in the business community," a White House official said on background before the meeting.

Lundgren, who has been C.E.O. since 2008, heads one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of recycled metals in the United States.

She joined the company in 2005 as chief strategy officer after a quarter-century career as an investment banker and lawyer. She has also been on the board of directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce since 2010 and has been chairman since 2015.
