Happy Tuesday, neighbors! The days are getting mighty short and we're still weeks away from the Solstice. I guess that means we're going to have to make the most of the daylight we have left. Let me tell you about how busy today is going to be.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy and rainy with a high of 52. Pretty much a standard Portland day.

Here are the top stories today in Portland:

  1. The Portland Timbers defeated Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference on Saturday, which means they will host the Major League Soccer Finals. This will be the first time that the Timbers have hosted the league championship. And if you think that fans are happy, you should hear how excited local businesses are. “Oh we are freaking stoked completely stoked!” Jay Anderson, a Marathon Taverna Security Guard, said. He said this weekend’s game brought in more than 500 fans and it's ready for even more for the MLS Cup. The MLS Finals will take place on Dec. 11th, where the Timbers will face New York City FC. 2. And it's off to the races! For vaccinations, that is. The Oregon Health Authority has opened a pop-up vaccine clinic in the former Multnomah Greyhound Track, which closed in 2004. It’s now owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and will host a drop-in clinic from noon until 7 pm Monday through Saturday, Dec. 6-11. (Willamette Week)
  3. Shots rang out on East Burnside over the weekend, as bullets flew at 2 crowded venues injuring 3 people. The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. on the sidewalk near the corner of Northeast 7th Avenue and E Burnside, according to the Portland Police Bureau. When officers arrived, they provided first aid to two victims until medics got to the scene. Those victims had serious injuries, police said, but they are expected to survive. The third victim went to the hospital on their own and was treated and released, PPB said. (KOIN)
  4. An audit from the Oregon Secretary of State's Office has concluded that the state agency tasked with training and overseeing police officers is not doing all it should. The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), provides a four-month basic training program for officers. But the audit found, in terms of further training and officer oversight, the agency is lacking. The audit also found that DPSST does not adequately perform or monitor ongoing training for officers, that it is mostly left to local control. Auditors found that DPSST is understaffed for all it should be doing. (KGW)
  5. Does the loud, whiny noise of a leaf blower push you near the breaking point? Well, you're not alone and some Portlanders are trying to do something about it. They're taking aim at gas powered leaf blowers which, they claim, in addition to creating noise, also contribute to climate change. "The climate issues, particularly now we’re in climate crisis, are of paramount importance," said Michael Hall, co-founder of Quiet Clean PDX. " (KCBY)
