Spring Break: Five Regional Things to do This Week

Students across the Portland metro region will be out of school for the next week, so what's there to do? Patch has a few options for you.

1. Beginning Saturday, March 25, and continuing through Spring Break to Sunday, April 2, the Holladay Park 2017 Spring Break Program will offer an array of free drop-in activities for all ages in Portland.

Game trucks, crafts, and races will keep families busy while school’s out for the week, thanks to the Holladay Park Partnership.

Holladay Park is located east of downtown on roughly four acres between Northeast 11th Avenue and Northeast 13th Avenue, along Northeast Multnomah Street.

2. “The Art of the Brick” exhibit continues through spring break and into May at OMSI.

Showcasing artist Nathan Sawaya’s LEGO brick masterpieces, the exhibit was one of CNN's Top Ten "Global Must-See Exhibitions.”

Admission for non-members is $19.75 for adults, $15.00 for seniors aged 63 and older, and $13.50 youth ages 3 to 13 years old.

Member admission is $5.50 for adults, $4.00 for seniors, and $3.50 for youth.

3. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival kicked off at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm at 33814 S. Meridian Rd. in Woodburn March 24.

Enjoy 40 acres of colorful tulips with the whole family (and well-behaved, leashed dogs) during this annual event that draws visitors far and wide. Pony rides, wine wagon farm tours for adults, and bounce houses are only a few of the many fun activities offered.

Admission costs vary depending on selected activities, but general admission for individuals 13 and older is $5, and $20 for a family car day pass.

4. Topgolf’s Spring Break Academy begins Monday, March 27.

Located at 5505 N.W. Huffman St. in North Hillsboro, Topgolf is offering the four-day program for kids ages 6 to 12 years old. They’ll learn all things golf from Topgolf’s Golf Teaching Professionals for $99 per child, which includes entry to the academy, Topgolf game play and golf instruction, and a Topgolf lifetime membership card.

5. Portland’s First Annual Citywide Springbreak Superhero Kiddie Disco runs Wednesday, March 29 to Friday, March 31.

For $10 admission, kids 12 and younger can enjoy music, games, food, and photos with special guests Spider-Man and Batman at the Greater New Hope building, 5626 N.E. Alameda St. in Portland. The event is free for parents, and there is a parents’ lounge.
