  1. A suspect has been arrested in the deadly downtown Portland stabbing of 37-year-old Quinton Miller. Police have charged Austin Hayes, 32, with unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree murder for his involvement in the July incident. (KOIN.com)
  2. Police have identified the man who was hit and killed by a driver along Interstate 84 in Portland on Monday. Tai David Ung, 29, was walking on I-84 at Northeast 28th Avenue when a driver struck him. Ung was pronounced dead at the scene by police. (KATU)
  3. Kaiser Permanente could be facing a massive labor shortage when a major healthcare contract expires on Sept. 30. The Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionalsrepresents 3,400 medical professionals, including registered nurses, who are employed by Kaiser Permanente and has reported that 93 percent of them would strike based on the proposed renewal terms, if a vote were taken today. The union is planning a rally outside of Kaiser's headquarters on NE Multnomah St. on Sept. 28. (Portland Patch)
  4. For people experiencing homelessness, the chilly Pacific Northwest temperatures can be deadly without the proper clothing. That's why the Union Gospel Mission is ramping up its Operation Overcoat campaign to help Portland's homeless population stay warm during the winter months. Volunteers have been assembling backpacks for unhoused people in the Portland metro area containing a jacket or blanket and other essentials people without a home will need to survive the impending cold weather.   5. Portland families are struggling to get their students to school in the wake of multiple canceled bus routes. The Portland Public School district was forced to cut 13 bus routes from Benson and Lincoln high schools this school year due to a driver shortage. While "there are some ideas on the table" to resolve the issue, district officials say the current shortage is not likely to be resolved soon. (KATU)
